Vada Pav Recipe:

Vada Pav Recipe to start with is essentially Batata Vada (Potato patty) sandwiched in Pav (bun) with lots of spicy sauce. It’s a very popular street food of Mumbai and that Mumbai is almost known for the Vada Pav Recipe.

Vada Pav Recipe also sometimes spelt as Wada Pav recipe is made of spicy potato filling deep fried and garnished with spicy chutneys/sauces, onion etc. It is a famous street food. Vada pav recipe is also sometimes referred as burger of the poor!

It is lovely to have this recipe with some variations as well. The vada pav recipe is a very famous delightful food eaten in all the parts of India. How to make the vada pav recipe is quite simple and it can be easily home cooked.

VADA PAV RECIPE

Ingredients:
For Potato Filling:
2 large potato, boiled
1 large onion, chopped
2 teaspoon garlic paste
1 pinch of asafetida
One teaspoon mustard seeds
2 teaspoon anise
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon red chilli powder
Two teaspoon coriander leaves, chopped
2 teaspoon lemon juice
Two tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon salt

For masala sauce:
1/2 cup dry coconut, grated
2 tablespoon garlic cloves, crushed
5 red chilli whole
2 teaspoon white sesame seeds
Two teaspoon peanuts
One teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon tamarind paste
Salt to taste

For Coating:
1 cup gram flour (besan)
1/4 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry

Others:
4 green chillies, to garnish
1 small onion, sliced in rings, to garnish
Four pav
4 tablespoon mint chutney

Method:
For Potato Filling:
Heat oil in a pan.
Fry four green chillies and keep aside for garnish.
Put asafetida, mustard seeds and anise. Cook for a minute.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, onion and garlic paste and saute for 3-4 minutes.
Now crush boiled potatoes and mix in the pan.
Add coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix them well and Potato filling is ready.

For Masala Sauce:
1.Heat a pan and roast peanuts on low flame.
2. Add oil, whole red chilli, garlic, white sesame seeds and coconut, salt and red chilli powder. Mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes.
3.Add tamarind.
4.Put in a grinder and grind to make a paste
5.Masala Sauce is ready.

For Potato Pakora:
1. In a bowl add gram flour, soda, salt and red chilli powder.
2.Put some water and mix thoroughly to make a thick coating paste.
3.Heat oil for deep frying.
4.Take some Potato Filling and make a small ball.
5.Dip the ball in coating paste, coat side sides and deep fry till golden brown. Repeat to make more golden brown pakoras.

Put it all together:
1.Take a pav and cut it in half. Heat it a little on a flat pan.
2. In the center, put 1 teaspoon mint chutney, 1 tablespoon masala sauce and one pakodas.
3.Garnish with fried green chillies, slided onion and a little mint chutney.
