Sonth Recipe:

Sonth recipe or Tamarind Chutne recipe is very famous accompaniment of North India and is referred by many names such as Imly ki Chutney, Imly ki Khatti Meethi Chutney, Imly Chutney, Sonth or Tamarind Chutney. You can prepare this and preserve this for a couple of days. Traditionally tamarind with seeds etc. is soaked overnight to get the pulp in water. This quick recipe is as flavorful and tangy for your immediate serving. Serve this accompaniment  with various chaats like samosa, golgappe, dahi bhalle, dahi vada, paapri, dhokala, tikki, and pakora.

Sonth recipe is a fantastic home made with numerous health benefits like it is helpful in digestion, lowers choleterol, blood sugar and lowers inflammation. It has numerous names like imli ki khati meethi chutney, meethi sonth recipe also spelt as meethi saunth recipe, and of course tamarind chutney recipe.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup tamarind paste
3 tablespoon jaggery powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon fennel powder
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
Salt or black salt, to taste
1/2 teaspoon ginger juice

Method:
1. Roast fennel, cumin and coriander in a pan for about 1 minute. Keep these spices aside.
2. Heat 2 cup water in a pan and add tamarind and jaggery to it. Let it boil for 5 minutes.
3. Add roasted spices, red chilli, ginger juice and salt. Boil for another 2-3 minutes.
4. Remove from heat and let it cool down.
5. Store in an air-tight dry jar and refrigerate
6. Serve with various chaats like samosa, golgappe, dahi bhalle, dahi vada and pakora.
