Sambhar recipe or sambar recipe is an authentic and traditional South Indian dish. Base ingredient is tuvar dal, also called arhar dal or pigeon pea lentils.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup toor lentil (arhar dal) 1 onion, finely chopped 1 cup pumpkin, cubed 2 lady finger, thinly sliced 1 carrot, thinly sliced 1 small brinjal, thinly sliced 2 green chilli, to taste Salt to taste 1 tablespoon oil To Garnish 2 teaspoon mustard seeds 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 tablespoon tamarind 4 dried red chilli, whole 10 curry leaves 3 tablespoon sambhar powder 1 teaspoon oil
Method: Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add onions. Saute onions till they become pink. Add other vegetables and lentils and saute for 3 minutes. Add 3 cups water and close the lid. Turnoff the heat after 3-4 whistles. On the side, make the content to garnish Take a pan and heat oil Add musturd seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, curry leaves, and sambhar powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes Mix tamarind to ½ cup water and mix them well. Add tamarind water to the pan. Add contents of pressure cooker the pan and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Serve with your favorite dish.
