Holidays commemorate an important event and/or person in the history of a nation.
Traditions are an important part to building a strong bond between family, and our community.
Celebrations are some of the core aspects of any culture.
They give us a sense of belonging and a way to express what is important to us.
They connect us to our history and also help us celebrate generations of family.
It may be a harvest festival, a religious holiday, or a national observance, or a family wedding.
Celebrating your traditions helps keep you grounded in your own culture while adapting to a new one.
This is especially important when going through some of the phases of culture shock.
It affects many of us in the first months after moving to a different continent or city.
