COCONUT CHUTNEY RECIPE

ABOUT COCONUT CHUTNEY RECIPE:

Coconut Chutney recipe is a household accompaniment in south India. This accompaniment is for Dosa, idly, vada, pongal, uttapam, and even rice. It takes many flavors and fragrances with the help of a variety of ingredients. You can add mint leaves, coriander leaves, red chillies, fried dal, lemon juice, garlic, tamarind, roasted groundnut etc. Once ready you can refrigerate and use it for a few days.

Ingredients:
1 cup tender coconut, without brown layer
1/4 inch ginger
2 green chilli
10 curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
3 teaspoon curry masala
Salt to taste
To Garnish
2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon chana dal
1 dried red chilli, whole
1 teaspoon oil

Method:
1.Put coconut, green chilli, ginger, curry leaves, curry masala, cumin, 1 tablespoon water and salt to a grinder.
2. Grind to make a course paste and transfer to a serving bowl.
3.Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, red chilli and dal.
4.Cook until dal turn golden brown.
5.Pour this mixture to garnish chutney in the serving bowl.
6. Serve with your favorite dish.
